Multiple Sources in PACS Map
This 160 m PACS map of the region of sky containing the Solar System object (248835) 2006 SX368 (position indicated with the red circle) demonstrates one of the strengths of the PACS point source catalogue: from the observation made by PACS, a pair of 70 m and 160 m maps were created for the purpose of studying this minor planet. Although the target object was too faint at 160 m to be detected a number of other celestial sources (indicated with the green circles) were found within the field of view these had not been catalogued before.
Details of all these sources can be found in the PACS Point Source Catalogue.
PACS Photodetector Array Camera and Spectrometer is one of three instruments that flew on the Herschel Space Observatory.
